The Triangle Offense:

The Triangle Offense was introduced the week of 1/7/2020 and contains three points to consider about this weeks Hillsman Heavy Top 10 GA. This week the 3 best games involving Hillsman Heavy Teams that could shake up next weeks spots.

Lithonia At Cedar Shoals; These two have been at the top of the contender talk all season and Cedar Shoals breaks in the Hillsman Heavy for the first time this season. Three years ago a sub-500 Lithonia team lost at Cedar Shoals in the quarterfinals playing on the road all playoffs long. Fast Forward and now playing on the road all playoffs long again Lithonia has to go to Cedar Shoals again. Both teams are all grown up now and the three main stars are set to shine. Eric Gaines, who was a freshman in the last meeting, is all grown up now. Quincy Canty and Tyler Johnson were not on that Cedar Shoals team but they know all about that team and now have to go through Lithonia to get closer to being in the conversation of that team that last defeated Lithonia in this very same round on the very same floor. Who else from either team will be ready in supporting roles with a trip to the semifinals on the line?

Norcross at Grayson; Norcross season ended at Grayson in the second round a year ago and now the Blue Devils return this season in the quarterfinals. Grayson is riding a 20-game winning streak, clicking on all cylinders and Caleb Murphy plays for them now. Norcross is in need of a signature win and this is the moment for it and Caleb Murphy is on the other side. You know the stars (JT Thor, Quincy Ademokoya, Kevon Eskridge, Deivon Smith, Toneari Lane and Ian Schieffelin) on both sides and now they will meet in what may be the most hotly contest quarterfinal in all of the state.

McEachern at North Gwinnett; North Gwinnett is just playing at another level down the stretch of the season and now mighty McEachern comes calling after a slim win in the second round. North Gwinnett will come with the same energy and feed off the energy of the crowd with guard play being highly important against Sharife Cooper, however does McEachern have an answer for Jared Ivey and rising youngster RJ Godfrey?

HillsmanTSCTriangle (2)

-Region schedules are heavy now with only a handful of non-region and OOS games remaining on teams schedules. Strength of region and Strength of classification (scheduling) now enter the equation and becomes a factor. Some teams are suppose to run through their region, some teams will have nightly wars as the hunted however still handle business (Overall performance/coaching), some teams will not handle their business (overall performance/coaching) and some teams will come out of nowhere get hot and either ride that out or cool off (team chemistry/coaching/scheduling).

-Norcross; most teams in GA below them would have the two losses they have also

-Eagle’s Landing and not Americus-Sumter: “split the baby” if you will as Americus-Sumter defeated Eagle’s Landing as a late one-game fill-in in a tournament when the scheduled OOS opponent cancelled on Eagle’s Landing. Eagle’s Landing was in the first Hillsman Heavy Top 10 GA of the season and fell out without losing and has had another respected and quality in-state opponent cancel a scheduled game in recent days.  Eagle’s Landing schedule is still stronger (wins over Buford, Douglas County, Boys and Girls-NY, Jones County and Dutchtown). Americus-Sumter has quality wins against Eagle’s Landing and Landstown (VA) which if they handle business in the region, as expected, they’ll remain in the conversation.
