Lambert Tops Johns Creek in Boys Lacrosse

Trailing 4-1 with less than six minutes remaining in the second quarter, Grant Plaughter, Trey Arnold and Matt O’Rourk scored three straight goals over the next four minutes and twenty-nine seconds as Lambert pulled even with Johns Creek 4-all.

After halftime Lambert took its first lead less than a minute into the third quarter on Matt O’Rourk’s second goal for a 5-4 lead. John Creek answered back with Bruce Silk’s second goal of the contest with 7:08 left in the third to knot it at 5. Lambert continued to keep a goal advantage that Johns Creek matched two other times in the contest.

Jake Stanford scored for Lambert with 6:37 left in the fourth quarter as Lambert would go on to win 9-8.

O’Rourk was the only Lambert player with multiple goals and has 33 total on the season. Griffin Coggans and Bruce SIlk each scored two goals for Johns Creek.

Lambert, last season’s class 6A runner-up, entered the contest ranked No.1 while Johns Creek came in at No.3 in the state. Lambert will host Alpharetta next week while Johns Creek will host Westminster.
