Georgia Knights Make Business Decision, Eye GDFL Playoff Berth

The Georgia Knights were reeling to say the least as they were down to only 11 players. After the news of the Georgia Jets shutting it down for the season the Knights and former Georgia Jets (the Jets announced last week that they have shut down for the 2012 season) players met Georgia Knights management to discuss a business agreement.  .

The result is that  many of the former Jets players will suit up for the Georgia Knights for the remainder of the 2012 season in the GDFL, Gridiron Development Football League. The GDFL is a minor league football league spanning the nation with over 70-plus teams. The Knights will hit the field this weekend with a 2-2 current record on the season in the GDFL.

The Georgia Jets shutdown their season last week days after a  28-12 lost to the Georgia Canes with a 1-1-1 record. The lost marked the Jets  the first season in their history that they did not complete, win their division, make the playoffs or finish with a winning record.

Georgia Knights management could not be reached for comment at the time of this posting.  The GDFL league office also could not be reached for comment on these developments but sources have confirmed that they are aware of the business agreement. Comment from both organizations will be posted as they are made available.

Georgia Jets Football Ownership has yet to return phone calls, email and other forms of communication since the announcement of the Jets shutting it down for the season was made last week. Total Sports Coverage will continue to seek a comment from Georgia Jets Football Ownership and will release such information once it is attained.

The Knights lost earlier in the season to the Atlanta Chiefs 16-2  and the Georgia Jets tied the Atlanta chiefs 6-6 earlier in the season. The Jets hold a 3-1-1 overall record against the Chiefs with the Chiefs winning 17-6 in the teams first ever meeting in September 2010.

Total Sports Coverage will provide updates as they are made available.
