The USA Women’s U17 World Championship team (4-0) defeated Mexico (0-4) 91-35 to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2014 FIBA World Championships.
The US scored a team-high 91 points in the victory with five players scoring in double figures. Arike Ogunbowale led all scorers with a game-high 19 points. Georgia product Asia Durr chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Joyner Holmes put in 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while Kristine Anigwe had 12 points and Katie Lou Samuelson added 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Since their opening round win over China, the US defeated France 88-40 (France defeated the US in an earlier exhibition) and Mali 78-22 in Group D action.
Team USA will face Canada (2-2) in the quarterfinals, Friday July 4th.
