Regular season action continued in the GDFL this past weekend with several key games on the slate.
The highlight game of the weekend, albeit quietly featured a top 25 match-up between the No.23 Georgia Crush and No. 25 Florida Stingrays. Marcus Brooks hooked up with Lamontray Williams twice in the first half and Cornelius “Junior” Williams returned the second half kick for a touchdown as the Crush defeated the Stingrays 19-0. With the win the Crush remain in second place in the Gulf Coast Division behind the Florida Falcons, while the Stingrays are third. The Falcons-ranked 9th, defeated the 14th ranked South Carolina Bulls 45-0
No. 19 Georgia Predators recorded their first shutout while getting back in the win column with a 56-0 victory over the Georgia Knights. Stephen Williams passed for four touchdowns, Jharail Rhodes caught three touchdowns and the defense scored three touchdowns for the Predators.
Tenth-ranked East Alabama won their fifth straight game downing the Marvel City Tigers 50-0. Seven different players scored touchdowns for East Alabama including Charles Drinkard, Tony Askew, Latrell Jenkins and CJ Ingram.
East Alabama leads the Heart of the South Division over the Georgia Predators by a game and-a-half.
