The North Marion Colts (8-2; 5-1) out of District 5 in class 5A are in the Florida 5A playoffs as district champs. The Colts began the season under head coach Craig Damon but two games into the season Damon stepped down to take a position at the FHSAA and Matt Johnson was named head coach. Damon left the Colts with a 2-0 record with wins over Forest (4-6; 1-3, did not make 6A playoffs) and Vanguard (5-5; 2-2- did not make 6A playoffs). Much did not change as the Colts made the postseason despite losses to Bolles (Jacksonville) and Eastside (district foe) for the 14th consecutive season while winning their 10th district title in the past 11 seasons.
Defending 5A champion Godby (9-1; 2-0) is the heavy favorite with American Heritage (9-1; 3-0) considered to be a serious contender as well. North Marion and Godby would meet in the state semifinals if both advance that far.
