North Georgia Gladiators Pile Up Touchdowns In Rout

Joey Vicary and Mo Issak shined for the North Georgia Gladiators in their home opener over the West Georgia Seminoles. Vicary got it started right off the bat racing for touchdown runs of 42 and 32 yards on the Gladiators first two possessions for a quick 14-0 lead with less than half of the first quarter gone. TJ Hamilton added another touchdown on a 7-yard run for 21-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Seminoles would use a short field to go 4-plays and 21 yards for their first score on a 26-yard touchdown pass from their No.3 quarterback Will Jennings to Brandon Dix to make it 21-6 with 5:06 remaining in the half. Quiet until then, Gladiator Hall of Famer Mo Issak got into the act catching a 45-yard touchdown pass from Vicary with 3:25 left in the half for a commanding 28-6 halftime lead.

After the intermission it was more Gladiators and all Gladiators thanks to Joey Vicary and Mo Issak. North Georgia posted 49 second half points, scoring 28 in the fourth to continue a unique trend of scoring more points in the fourth quarter than any other quarter for the second consecutive week (22 last week vs Georgia Rebels).

Vicary and Issak hooked up for four more times on touchdowns of 46, 12, 53 and 39 yards in the second half. Issak got one of his own with a dazzling 65-yard punt return off sheer talent to officially blow the Seminoles way.

Every pass Issak caught on the night was for a touchdown finishing with 5 catches 171 yards 5 touchdowns. Issak’s last touchdown will go in the books as the official last play of the game on a 29-yard touchdown reception from backup quarterback and starting wide receiver Quint Hamm, the game was called after the extra point with 1:34 remaining with 77-12 being the final score. Hamm set the score up with 50 yard run on the previous play.

When the dust settled North Georgia had piled up 539 yards of total offense against the Seminoles. Vicary finished 11-15 279 yards 5TD 1INT passing while leading North Georgia in rushing with 12 carries 116 yards 2TD. Bo Harris (a sack, multiple tackles), Marvin Mathis (4 PD, 3+ tackles), Zach Fralick, Manthan Colbert (5+ tackles) and Jeremy Angel (sack) were solid performers on defense. North Georgia only allowed 24 total yards of offense in the first half and 215 total yard in the game. The bulk of the yardage came on a 8-play 85-yard drive by the Seminoles (0-2) ending with a touchdown pass from Quarde Jones to Will Arrington covering 26 yards to make the score 55-12 with 9:09 left in the fourth quarter.

North Georgia (2-0) will play at home again next Saturday night on Cheerleader Appreciation night at Raider Valley at North Forsyth High School in Cumming, GA.
