Per the Gwinnett Daily Post, the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) will have a team located within Gwinnett County Georgia. Gwinnett County is known for its talent-rich base as it is home to the last three high school football state championship teams at the highest level in Georgia (’10 Brookwood-5A, ’11 Grayson-5A, ’12 Norcross-6A).
The Gwinnett Land Sharks are the newest team to enter the GDFL. The GDFL will be entering their fourth season and held their second National Championship game in Atlanta, GA in 2011, the Chambersburg Cardinals defeated the Oklahoma Thunder 19-14 in that contest.
The GDFL’s closest connection the Gwinnett County, Ga were the Georgia Jets. The Jets were launched in 2009 under the name Gwinnett Jets and won a minor league football championship in 2010 as member of another minor league football league. The Jets lost in the first round of 2011 GDFL Playoffs in their first and only full season in the league. Georgia Jets ownership could not be reached for comment.
