The McEachern (GA) Lady Indians fell 64-55 to Nazareth (NY) in the opening round of the Rose Classic Super Jam in Brooklyn, New York. Sophomore Te’a Cooper led McEachern with 20 points, 6 assist and 6 steals while freshman Jada Lewis chipped in 14 points, 5 steals and 2 dimes. KlinTisha Martin added 13 points for McEachern
McEachern trailed by one point with under three minutes to play but were unable to power ahead for the victory after making “key mistakes” as head Coach Phyllis Arthur said.
“We have to hustle and we have to be intense and want it, if we want to be better, hustle will get you everywhere”, Arthur said while placing emphasis on hustle.
The foul line again caused problems for the Lady Indians as they shot 46% going 11-24 while Nazareth went 21-34 from the line for 62%.
“We have to make free throws… I don’t know of many teams in Georgia that can play with them, they are pretty good”, Arthur said about Nazareth.
McEachern will again be in action Saturday night against Bishop Ford at 9PM EST. Bishop Ford is the host school.
