The GDFL opened it’s 2012 season across the country this past weekend. This is the third season for the GDFL which has over 90 teams throughout the United States and Canada.

2012 GDFL Season is underway

Georgia Crush 24 Atlanta Chiefs 6; The Crush were coming in looking to improve on their play on the offensive line. The Chiefs were solid on defense but were unable to make any plays on offense.

“I’m pleased with the effort of our players, this was a lost that we were able to bond as a team. Our defense is lights out but our offense was anemic and we had too many turnovers,” Chiefs Owner Stan Gaye said about the season opening loss. The Chiefs will host the Georgia Knights this weekend

Atlanta-Fulton County Rams 48 Liberty City (SC) Greyhounds 12; The Rams scored on an 80-yard touchdown pass, a kickoff return and the rest of the damage was done with their rushing attack as three running backs rushed for touchdowns.

“I’m pleased with our overall effort as a team today. We were missing six lineman and people stepped up and played out of position. That lets me know as a coach,  that all of the hard work we’ve put in during the off-season is going to pay off,” Rams head coach Jerome Davis said.

In response to having players playing out of position at times, Davis didn’t hesitate. ” I’m going to play with the players that show up and were going to work hard,” Davis stated.

Davis, in his second season with the Atlanta-Fulton County Rams, has an extensive background in minor league football earning Coach Of The Year honors in 2009 and guiding several teams to minor league championship games. In recent years he has been head coach of the Forest Park Vikings, Georgia Jets and Atlanta Chiefs organizations before joining the Rams. Atlanta-Fulton County will travel to the Georgia Jets this weekend.
