Future Tennessee Running Back Wins Class 4A 100 Meter State Championship

Clarke Central (GA) football running back and track & field sprinter Quenshaun Watson has qualified for the finals in the 100 meters and 200 meters.

Watson ran a time of 10.71 in the 100 meter prelims which was the second fastest time behind Alex Fleming of Fayette County (10.68). Watson and Fleming ran in the same heat. Josh Mercer of South Effingham won the other heat with a time of 10.99.

In the 200 meter prelims Watson ran a time of 21.33 winning his heat. His time was second to Ayrian Evans of Morrow who ran a time of 21.28.

UPDATED: Quenshaun Watson won the Class 4A 100 meter state championship with a time of 10.54. Alex Fleming of Fayette County (10.66) and Evan Berry of Creekside ( 10.67) finished second and third respectively.

Watson however finished last in the 200 meters with a time of 46.42. Ayrian Evans of Morrow won the Class 4A 200 meter state championship with a time of 21. 19. Sidney Buchannon of Creekside (21.63), Michael Newton of Sprayberry (21.65) and Evan Berry of Creekside (21.77) finished second, third and fourth respectively.

The Georgia Olympics (Track & Field) State Championships are being held at Memorial Stadium in Jefferson, GA.
